USED BOOKS - Steam Locomotives of the Burlington Route

Fascinating and well-written history of the growth of the Burlington Route from over 200 separate smaller railroads, beginning in 1849 and tracing its rapid expansion throughout the Midwest into the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy of the 19th and 20th centuries. With maps showing the numerous lines in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado. Of special interest to the scale modeler are the locomotive plans and the assignment sheets listing the accessories (feedwater heater system, stoker type, etc.) for each class of locomotive. Wonderful collection of over 530 black and white photos of the Burlington Route's steam locomotives, both in action and builder shots, as well as plans and technical data. With pages of rosters by class.

Bernard G. Corbin, William F. Kerka
